"Like a blender full of vibrators & sub bass!"
Brothers Jid and Ben Ives are collectively known as Weymouth based electronic duo, Bosch Stacey. Since their inception, they have impressed listeners with their unique blend of bass driven pandemonium and dance floor beats to earn themselves a loyal fan base. Drawing upon a diverse range of influences, but primarily focusing on those of the electro and breakbeat genre and old skool style, they have crafted their own inimitable sound and style.
Back in the early Nineties Ben and Jid spent most of their musical youth playing guitar and bass respectively in various experimental/covers bands in their hometown of Weymouth. This continued for sometime, and although the experience was invaluable, the brothers became increasingly frustrated with the lack of commitment and ambition shown by fellow local musicians. This, plus their growing thirst for electronic music coupled with the explosion of the UK breakbeat scene prompted them to ditch their guitars for synths and samplers. On Boxing Day 1996 they played their debut gig at the very first Cold Turkey (a now legendary Weymouth annual music extravaganza), topping the bill. Since then they have performed all manner of venues, ranging from small pubs & clubs to free parties and open air festivals.
Presently, they have been hard at work in the studio working on material for a new album due out later next year. After another summer of live events, including an amazing headline slot on the Beats Bubble stage at the Bloom Festival, Bosch Stacey are gearing up for another year of tearing up the dance floors.
The brothers relish performing live on stage and are constantly honing their performances to captivate audiences both aurally and visually. Their live sound is very much about phat bass, dark riffs & dirty breaks, with plenty of blips/glitches, bitches & vocal hooks thrown in, using a variety of Grooveboxes, monosynths and various FX units to deliver their sound in a relentlessly loud and uncompromising fashion. Their passion for music and what they do is abundant and makes for a really alluring presence on stage.
Bosch Stacey are no strangers to the studio, churning out 2 self-proclaimed albums, an EP and a 12" single. They are currently awaiting the release of the Label7 debut “Cut Throat – Stitch Up” due out later this year.
