Jack the Treacle Eater

Profile

Being Jack the Treacle Eater is:

A fusion of jerky bass lines, phatend beats and wrenched undertones complemented with heroic dance moves. This has always made Jack the Treacle Eater sweeter.

Rooted from the ghettos of the deep south of England. I was caught in a territorial trap. Armed with guitar, keyboard and beat machine I played in small venues throughout the South West but realised that the ordinary folk wasn’t ready for ‘live’ performance.

I therefore went underground with others and utilised free parties in order to get my sound out. From there I came back to the nu-style of club with open mindedness and a second beginning for the live scean.

In 1999 I ditched the guitar and moved to Bristol. I took into consideration what could be achieved by using computer software along with hardware. Once I had got the bastards talking to each other I hibernated, only leaving the house to work and visit the take away and devised what can only be described as Dirt beats.

This manifested from my heavy metal up bringing along with the sounds of 808 State, for melody, Altern8 for kickin beats and aphex twin for twisted sensibility. I began to absorb the many sounds of urban Bristol, filtering them down into my unique sound using mainly Roland synths and Korg drum machines aided by midi technology and the fingertips of Mozart I write and create music and effects that will stimulate and have you find a new groove deep within. New tunes are being devised this very moment from the home studio that will far succeed the 2006 set.

Making music live is a challenging reward. To be able to manipulate the music in tune to the crowd’s suggestion and reactions is vital. A lot of people dig my style and conviction and it will always be about the music and the people that create the vibe.
