Sine18 is but one splinter in the minds eye of Ricky Compton. Born amid the electronic backdrop of the 80s, Sine18 laid down its roots to combine electronic beats with early techno trance. Late last summer Sine 18 resurrected this soundscape as an experimental live project based around a hardware set comprising of Roland Synthesizers and drum boxes with Korg Electribes along with scratching overtones augmented by Mr GO.  What followed were several successful Bristol based performances including Timbuk2 under Label 7, Bristol Academy and a New Years Eve Special at Native under Empathy.

 

Sine18 aspires to bridge the gap from influences such as Autechre to ZZ Top whilst retaining the same basic electronic principals provided by pioneers Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode to the Detroit scene some 20 years ago. Bringing you what we have today, a collection of hypnotic sounds paired with solid weighty base lines, once described as “eclectic beats for the discerning listener”.  Sine18 has now begun its journey into the 21st century.
